Poverty must end

Democracy Owes every Citizen a Dividend
on his Commonshare of the Commonwealth

We can eliminate all poverty in our Nation with a Universal
 Supplemental Security Income (SSI)   that exceeds the poverty level,   We could eliminate our massive " Bureau for Begging" that does "means testing" to determine eligibility. Everyone is eligible.

The funding would be done from government revenue obtained directly from the Federal Reserve System interest free.
Then we could apply a single flat rate tax on all income through the FICA system. The purpose of the Tax would not be for funding but would be adjusted to control inflation It would be raised if there was excess inflation and decreased if there was monetary deflation. In either case the poor and middle class would receive more than they pay.  The economic system would grow under the inflow of a Base Income and those who produced Goods & Service would have that  Base Income supporting the foundation of a stable economy.

The Rich would remain Rich, but most important, everyone would have sufficient food, adequate shelter, effective medical care and education to equally compete in the competition to improve their life style and accumulate wealth.

Communism forgets that life is an individual expression. Capitalism forgets that life is Social Cooperative, The Human Community is an abnormality when built on the Thesis of Communism. It is equally unstable as the byproduct of the Antithesis of Capitalism. There is a developing higher Synthesis that combines the efficiency of Competition with the Equality of well being through Cooperation. It is sometimes called Communitarianism.

I think of myself as a Communitarian. I do not believe that the Government should own anything except Military assets, public buildings, interstate transportation infrastructure, and Public parks & land. I believe that all programs for the general welfare should be funded out of the public purse, but should be provided through the productive capacity of the competitive economy. 
      
Marx was a student of Hegel's Philosophy and based Communism on the belief that it was the ultimate and final synthesis. He was wrong and the State of "no government" never evolved as Marx's philosophy predicted. A Dictatorship never willing gives up power. The "Oligarch of Wealth" that Capitalism has created to hold Power over us will not willingly give up power.  

It can and will fall to the power of Democracy if members of the human community eventually embrace the concept that the American community is entitled to a portion of the assets of the economy for the common good. That is the concept of power that governs Communitarianism. Communitarians believe in a balance between the elimination of Poverty and the exceptional reward that is owed to the exceptional achiever.

I have never been an advocate of the idea that a Society should share everything equally because everything was not created equally. Exceptional contribution deserves an exceptional reward. But I have always believed that both the individual and the Society that supports that opportunity to reap exceptional rewards have an obligation to honor and support the intrinsic Value of every life within the authority of that Society.


It is destructive to the integrity of the human Community when that Community does not make its 1st priority the business of providing food, shelter, medical care, and life skill training [education] to every individual in that Community. The Individual right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness is dependent on the Commonshare right to food, shelter, medical care. and skill training. If you are homeless, hunger, ill, and ignorant there is little opportunity to know freedom. Your destiny is almost certainly to live a short life as a wage-slave servant and your pursuit is most likely to be trying to escape the desperation of destitution.
